She has the ability to take the zeitgeist of today and turn it into her own. Swift's first hits, particularly their neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. However, her album Fearless revealed a songwriter who was discovering herself and gaining a huge following. The album was a huge success, not just on American soil, with six platinum-certified songs. The Top Ten songs Love Story and I Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. But, it also did well all over the world. Swift's second album Speak Now, released almost two years after the previous one, built on this success. The album propelled Swift to the heights of fame. The singer's popularity increased throughout the three albums that followed - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift became a household name within an industry she felt was hers to be. While she reduced her work with folklore and Evermore releases in 2020 she was nevertheless in the forefront of pop music.
