Despacito by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi Luis Fonsi, who is a Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed within less than six weeks. The single a mix of reggaeton and pop music has not just brought interest to reggaeton, but also drew interest towards Latin music in general. In 2015 there were two mostly songs with Spanish lyrics on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's success in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish were in the top 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix of Despacito (2017) popular artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma in Medellin (2019). In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton performers were lamenting its inclination towards mainstream, but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms as well as other styles into his music.
