April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player in the US, is among a select set of females who've had medals won in more than one Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross hopes to win her Olympic the first medal of gold however, she also hopes for greater. Perhaps she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross on NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing very well, or even at all, they can earn a gold. This is also a matter of chance. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister lived there. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. She competed in basketball and track in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits as a prep athlete. She was definitely a cut above the rest when it came to the second sport. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside hitter on the volleyball court during her high-school career. The results of her efforts were acknowledged when she was named 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Players of the Year. She also captured the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman may be working on a project in the year 2017, however Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they came together. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments using two partners, one of which is the volleyball legend. In the period 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who was the winner of the world championship alongside Kessy in 2009, also was a major force on international stage. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they won the gold medal. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group to beat out for gold. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. The pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She played during high school and in years prior to hitting the beaches as a professional. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the university. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. She also helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a tragic incident in her sophomore years, yet she managed to become an All-American in her second year. In the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them win consecutive championships. She had established her place as a legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Margie Ross didn't get to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball stage. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie continues to be a source of inspiration, both off and on at the beach.
