Seasons 1-8 see shippers placing bids for two of the shipments on uShip. It is a reverse auction format. Bids are typically accompanied by remarks about the potential risks and costs and their motives and abilities. When the deadline for an auction runs out, the job is typically awarded to the lowest bidder and at the discretion of the client however, it might be given to a bidder that has a better average feedback score from previous customers. Feedback ratings are used to break tie for the bidder with the lowest. In season 9, shippers get their cargo via the services of a shipping broker. They aren't aware of the bidding process. Instead the winners load their cargo and attempt and deliver it intact prior to the deadline set by the client or receiver. Client feedback ratings are displayed when the loads are delivered. The episode ends with the revenue of each shipper and expenses. To determine the profit or loss the amount of bids is subtracted. Sometimes, the shipper will organize to haul additional loads during the same trip. This amount will be added to their tally. In certain instances, the shipper will be not able to finish a task because of concerns about load size/weight or road safety. One shipper might employ someone else to help on the job. Once the project is completed the shippers will decide on how they will split the proceeds. Seasons 1-8 are filled with hilarious criticisms from other shippers.
